Timba Bass Lesson 8: 3-2 Tumbaos Example 1

Now that we’ve covered some of the typical 2-3 bass rhythms, it’s now time to look at their equivalents in 3-2 clave direction. Here, we will proceed in the same fashion as with the 2-3 series, introducing a similar melodic “hook” that serves as the foundation for creating different variations over the Am D F E7 chord progression. As both the notes and the harmony are the same as in 2-3 Example 1, take note of the different rhythms being utilized in this example.
